What I am working on at the moment?
I work on a variety of environmental awareness projects which aim to bring underreported spatial issues into the mainstream consciousness and facilitate meaningful dialogue about our environment at the grassroots scale.
Why I wanted to join the Participatory City Foundation Board?
I have been fortunate enough to see first hand the rich networks and social capital which exists silently in Barking and Dagenham. Through academia, volunteering and work in the private sector, I have also witnessed the power of grassroots, participatory development. PCF brings these two realities together at an unprecedented scale to further our borough's historic cultures of participation. I want to learn from the project and to help it to move in a positive, sustainable direction to ensure it supports the community for many years to come.
A little bit about my background
I am a local resident and long time volunteer in the area. Having left the local area to study Geography with a particular focus on grassroots community development and contemporary environmental change, I returned and gained valuable private sector experience in human capital consulting for multinational companies. More recently, I have been concentrating on teaching and raising awareness for human ecology and environmental change.
